Background

St. Teresa’s R.C. Primary School belongs to the growing Catholic community of St. Teresa’s Parish, Morden. It exists to provide and sustain an environment in which the beliefs and values of the Catholic Faith are developed and nurtured. The school is a vital formative part of the Mission of the Church in this area.

St. Teresa’s is a Voluntary Aided, Co-educational Primary School which was built and financed by the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark in the 1930s to accommodate the Catholic children on the St. Helier Estate and the surrounding areas, now in the Boroughs of Merton and Sutton.

It was first an all-age school named The Holy Family School but in later years it became a Junior and Infants School. When the Borough of Merton went three-tier it became a First School and was renamed St. Teresa’s, catering for children from 3+ to 9 years of age.

Reorganisation of Education has recently taken place in Merton and once again St. Teresa's is a full Primary School catering for children from 3+ to 11 years.
